Band bio/info: The Ground Up was founded in early 2009 by Rocco Stephen and Daniel King. Born out of their mutual love for the pioneering folk, blues, and rock movements of the 60s and 70s, the two began writing material together and performing at local bars and clubs in the Boston area. Drummer Doug Standley was introduced to the duo at an open mic and instantly found a connection with their sound. He soon joined the band in November of 2009. After months and months of auditioning bassists, the trio hooked up with bassist Ryan Callahan to finalize the lineup.
The group has been hard at work writing, recording, and performing while supporting their recently released self-titled EP, with plans to head into the studio this summer to record their first full length album. With a budding and impressive resume of shows played in New York City, Boston, and everywhere in between, The Ground Up is a clear driving force behind the reinvention of the Boston music scene.
