They didn't think the "v" was a big deal. Their friend who did the art for the band stylized the "u" in Churches as a Roman "u" and they just carried it along to the printed name. Now, lead singer Laura Mayberry says, "people ask 'How do you pronounce that?'" But they seem to be ok with being in a band  that has a funny spelling. Chvrches is a young trio who calls Glasgow home even though they haven't been there lately after all of the festivals and European shows they've done this summer. And to say they've been well received is an understatement. They have amazing chemistry and are effortlessly in sync for such a new band.  "One of the things that brought the three of us together is our love for classical songwriting" says Mayberry in a recent online interview.  But to me, I guess what they call classical I call ...SYNTH, and lots of it, especially in this song "The Mother We Share". This song has a dramatic yet simple feel with sparkling synth, courtesy of master keyboardist Iain Cook.  But I assure you Mayberry's bright and rich vocals are not lost, they seem to cut through with perfect tone and pitch. And her poignant lyrics keep you engaged "I'm in misery where you can seem as old as your omens and the mother we share will never keep your proud head from falling"...words to ponder for sure.  I do love their passion, depth and overall energy. They have toured with Boston's own Passion Pit and they are not shy to declare their appreciation for Depesche Mode...which makes perfect sense.  Take a listen...

From their debut album available now The Bones of What You Believe this is "The Mother We Share"

Radio stations give their website address often during broadcasts. Most stations make their web addresses as easy to remember as the call letters. Type a known radio station website address into the search bar to access the station's website.

Yes, this new watch from Deep Blue is equipped with an actual depth gauge. The Depthmeter Professional features a special pressure sensor on the back of the watch, which measures depths up to 50 meters (165 ft) below the sea level. The resulting value is shown on the dedicated scale, located along the edge of the dial. As for the water resistance itself, the timepiece can be submerged in water up to 200 meters of depth, which should be more than enough for most users. When it comes to the design of the Depthmeter Professional, there aren't many surprises here. We've got a familiar Deep Blue design, on a stainless steel case measuring 45 mm in diameter. On the right side of the case, we can notice the crown, surrounded by the two chronograph pushers. The case is completed with a unidirectional sapphire bezel, which has a luminous inlay. The color of this part of the watch matches the dial breitling aeromarine replica, rolex swiss replica so there are two options here - blue and black watches replica. This is one of the more stylish parts of the watch, even though the overall style could be mostly described as 'sporty'. On the back of the case, apart from the pressure sensor, we can also see the engravings, such as the serial number and various other tidbits. Pressure sensor on the back The dial comes in two color options, black and blue, matching their respective bezels. One of the first things we notice on the dial is the depth scale, at the very edge of the dial, marked with the bright red section for the 'over zone'. Another instance of this color is the various markings on the dial, such as the ring on the 6 o'clock chronograph sub-dial. The rest of the indicators include the 24-hour AM/PM indicator, as well as the 50-minute display at the top of the dial. The depth scale is located along the edge of the dial For better nighttime (and of course, underwater) visibility, the hands and the hour indicators are coated with Superluminova, replica panerai ferrari by panerai watches which gives off very bright light, and ensures clear and precise reading. Both the blue and the black dial include the bright red central hand, but interestingly, only the blue dial version has hour and minute hands complemented with this color. One last addition to the dial is the date window, located at 3 o'clock position. Finally, the whole dial is protected with a sturdy sapphire crystal, which has anti-reflective coating for optimal visibility More subtle black version The watch is powered by a quartz movement, featuring a chronograph with 1/20 second indicator. Finally, completing the whole watch, we have the bracelet. It's a 24mm professional diver bracelet made of stainless steel, which nicely matches the rest of the watch. It's 5 mm thick, and all that secures a firm grip, which is crucial for the tasks that lie ahead of this divers' watch. As for the price, both the black and the blue dial versions are priced at $799 US.
iwc cousteau divers replica watches Now, here's something interesting. I've never been much of a fan when it comes to old-fashioned steel bracelet type of divers. Not even the iconic Rolex Submariner or legendary Omega Seamaster. Sure, it would be silly to say I don't appreciate their place in horology history, or even respect the influence those two models (and endless variants) had on watchmaking industry in general, but somehow they just aren't my type, so to say. I guess you could tell I am more of a modernist in a way, leaning more to Hublot's Oceanographic 4k or perhaps Richard Mille's RM 028. If watches were women, I would always fall for a blond silicone doll and classy brunette would have to leave the bar alone. Yes, I am that cheap Although, in my defence, I still claim Angular Momentum's Cushion Diver as my favorite diver so far! Pretty rad, wouldn't you say? (Just to be clear, I am talking about purely aesthetics of design and not about technical values etc.) Deep Blue Diver T100 Daynight So you can imagine my surprise when I saw the latest offerings from Deep Blue – Diver T100 Daynight and Lady Blue. No, the Diver T100 Daynight is not a younger brother of the infamous T1000 and it is not made of liquid metal, but it is in fact a updated version of the Deep Blue T100 range, this time in more contained 46 mm, shaven from 48. Lady Blue is obviously a ladies diver replica panerai black seal. Speaking of which doesn't that bracelet on T100 remind you of something? Despite such obvious "homages", Deep Blue T100 Daynight manages somehow to rise above mere Rolex lookalike and establish itself as a bona fide diver with its own charisma replica watches rolex. And how about those gorgeous candy colors of Lady Blue collection? I am not ashamed to proclaim my neverending love for that cherry pink model! One disclaimer though – not having seen them in person, I reserve my final judgment. However, one thing is sapphire crystal clear, those photos are one of the best I have seen recently, kudos to the master photographer! Hands and markers are tritium tubes as well as tritium pip on 12 o'clock position on unidirectonal 120 click bezel. Crown and case back are screw down, ensuring the 300 meters water resistance. Price is yet undisclosed, but since its predecessor costs 489 dollars, it is hard to imagine this incarnation would cost more. Lady Blue, blue mother of pearl Lady Blue, cherry pink lume dial As for the Lady Blue collection, it features all the great stuff men models are known for packed in 36 mm stainless steel case! In this case, movement is quartz Swiss Ronda 505 and it also features sapphire crystal, screw down crown and dial generously coated in Superluminova for nightime activities. There are 6 variants available - black, white and blue mother of pearl dial and blue, orange and cherry pink lume dials. All that for a decent price of 299 dollars! replica omega skeleton watches We at Hodinkee really like to give you what you ask for. In fact we even opened up a service to do just that with our watch finders....since we launched back in late January we have helped over 700 people find the watches of their dreams, and we have about 100 more in the queue that we're working on (we'll get to you soon, we promise). When reading these requests, we noticed a trend. There were countless people out there looking for a serious diving watch that was under $500. We aren't talking about a diving watch that LOOKS serious, but one that can actually withstand the pressure associated with deep diving, as well as the everyday beating that people who dive put their watches through. A few weeks ago we mentioned an inspiring brand (that caused a bit of commenter controversy) called Enzo Mechana. His watches are rated to an amazing 1000m (or 3300ft) below the surface, the same as the soon to be released uber diving watch 500 Fathoms and about 3x the depth of the ubiquitous Rolex Submariner (good to 300m). That is all well and good, but his watches retail for around $1500 and we know people are looking for that kind of performance for under $500. Guess what, we found it. The brand is called Deep Blue and they offer a line of watches that are meant to be worn under water, deep underwater. They offer 1 model good to 200m, one model good to 500m, and TWO models that are rated to 1000m below the surface...the most expensive of all will cost you just $499 (actually even less with our help, but we'll get to that later). So we reached out to the man behind the brand, an industry veteran whose projects we've featured in the past. He told us that just like with Panatime, he saw a void that simply wasn't being filled and he filled it. He knew people wanted a watch that was rugged and good looking but didn't necessarily want to spend over $1000. When you look at a Deep Blue watch, a Master Diver in this case, you can't help but notice it resembles the more expensive Enzo Mechana. It even has the same undeniable weight that we commented on with the EM. The cases look practically identical, and they feel practically identical, and something tells us they probably are practically identical. So then why does the Enzo cost 3x the Deep Blue? replica rolex watches for sale Which costs $1500 and which costs $400? The first reason is the movement. Enzo uses a Swiss ETA movement, the 2824, while Deep Blue is also using a high-grade automatic movement, it just happens to be made in Japan by Miyota. The second, and perhaps most influential reason, is the aura surrounding Enzo Mechana. The brand is led by a charismatic man that sells his own lifestyle as much as he does his watches. People want to be associated with him as a person, and while we do not doubt that it was he who designed this particular style of deep diving case first, we are unsure that equates to his watches being worth 3x the price of something like the Master Diver. We'll leave that up to you... All Deep Blues Come W/ 4 Extra Straps & A Travel CaseBack to these Deep Blues. So you are getting what is basically the same dive-proven case as the Enzo and you're getting an automatic movement. Here is where things get really good. With every Deep Blue watch you purchase, you get an additional FOUR straps, the tool to change them, and a plastic carrying case. That is not a typo, with our Master Diver on a SS bracelet; we received 1 NATO strap, 1 Velcro ballistic strap, and 2 different rubber straps. To be honest, we've never seen anything like this. breitling chronomat evolution replica watches This allows you to change the looks of your Deep Blue as you see fit. As mentioned above, you also get a small screw driver that allows swapping the straps (on the Deep Blue and any other watch you may own). The watch we tested was the Master Diver; on our wrist it felt just as solid as the Enzo. The watch has a helium escape valve, a screw down crown (see pic above), and a date window between 4 and 5 o'clock. It also kept great time for the week that we wore it, and just like the Enzo, we were stopped many times by people to ask about it tissot watches replica. One thing that the Deep Blue did better than the Enzo was light up in the dark. They have used a special blue Lum that while not as bright as the LUM-TEC M5, it certainly lasts longer, requires no charging, and is much brighter than 95% of the lums on other watches. All in all, we are really impressed with the Deep Blue. It gives people a chance to own a high quality automatic diving watch without breaking the bank. The fact that it comes with four additional straps is really icing on the cake, an The Master Diver's Blue LUM Really Shinesadded bonus to an already worthy sport watch. After our week of testing, told the people at Deep Blue our thoughts, and to thank us, they decided to give Hodinkee readers a discount on all purchases. And when we say discount, we mean a big discount...35% off retail. We told you we could find a 1000 meter diver for under $500, we just didn't know how far under $500 it would be! To view the entire Deep Blue collection, visit their official website here. If ordering online or via the telephone, be sure to use coupon code "HODINKEE" for your 35% discount.
